We couldn't do our work without the support of committed advocates in the communities we partner with. They are teachers, leaders, and mothers; each becomes a key link to the villages in which we work, helping us mobilize to create positive futures for everyone.

Nyaga, a District Manager in Kaare, began to help For the Good coordinate our outreach in 2014 as part of community work with several founding partners of For the Good - Molly and Sharon Secor. When he was asked to help For the Good organize girls for a pad distribution in Kaare in 2015, he brought a deep level of dignity to the process. As a leader in his community, Nyaga was also instrumental in helping us understand the necessary channels and cultural norms of the rural Kenyan villages in Tharaka Nithi County to ensure that our work was accepted and lasting. Through his assistance, For the Good began dialogues with villagers in Kaare to look for ways we can improve the local primary school infrastructure to better support the girls of the community.

Finding and connecting to community leaders like Nyaga is always an initial step of our work in Kenya. These connections are critical each time we expand our work into new communities. Without their leadership and guidance, little change is possible. With it, they guide shifts in hearts and minds and ultimately, the choices families and communities make for their girls’ future.
