MARION CHEBET | BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Marion Chebet is an Investment Principal at The Beacon Fund. a social impact enterprise that utilizes philanthropic and market rate tools to create positive change. Prior to her work with The Beacon Fund, Marion was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Impact Investing for Johnson Financial Group (JFG Wealth), where she helped formulate, execute and oversee the firm’s investment strategies and led JFG’s Impact Investment platform to identify client investments also making a positive impact socially and environmentally. Marion earned a BS in Accounting and an MBA from Nicholls State University, where she was awarded the 2013 MBA Excellence Award as a graduate student.

Marion is deeply philanthropic, volunteering her professional skills and insights to many Colorado-based non-profits. She is a Trustee of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation and on Investment Committees of the Denver Foundation and the Piton Foundation for the Gary Communities. For the Good’s work to reduce the barriers that keep girls from school strikes close to home for Marion, who grew up in a small village near Eldoret, Kenya before coming to the U.S. on a college scholarship. She knows firsthand the challenges countless Kenyan girls experience in their quest for education and is passionate about helping spark the potential she sees in them and other girls around the world.

“Two things got me where I am today,” says Marion. “My mum and education. Any chance I get to contribute to making a difference in a person’s life – especially the lives of girls, I always grab it and give my best. Educating a girl means you are educating the future generations. As Nelson Mandela says, it is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Marion is a talented (and very fast) runner who now loves exploring Colorado’s mountain trails through running.
